Even If Meteor Garden Fails to Shine, Dylan Wang is Still the Brightest Star of the Drama

[HHT News] After winning on Super Idol and received the male lead role in Meteor Garden 2018, Dylan Wang has received much love and attention as well as endless pressure.

Luck That "Fell From The Sky" 
From a boy that no one ever heard of, Dylan has all of a sudden become the number one name people are curious about the most after the announcement of the reboot of Meteor Garden. For an unknown actor with basically no experience on hand, this is a life changing opportunity. But to clarify a few more things, Dylan Wang has won over thousands of contestants and was chosen by Angie Chai herself. First, he is lucky to have a height of 183cm, a well-balanced body type, and a handsome face with charms of its own.

A number of viewers has praised Dylan for having a 'foolish' smile like Tsukasa in the original manga. Dylan's attractiveness has gained him attention since civil aviation school in Sichuan, which lead him to be the main ambassador for the school even though the profession of flight attendants don't differentiate between handsome boys or pretty girls. To be fair, Dylan is one the reasons why the audience want to spend their time watching the drama even though they have already memorized it.

Stress from Getting Male Lead on First Role 
Meteor Garden achieved great ratings right when it airs, but happiness has stopped at that moment. Even though the pressure is big, it was aired on Hunan and meet with negative reviews from audience and low ratings on Douban. In the media, Dylan is ranked at Top 20 only, but quite high for a young actor but lower than expected in the beginning. It seems like Meteor Garden cannot help its stars "rise" to stardom compare to previous versions. Along with that, Dylan has to face criticism from netizens that thinks he 'ruined' the image of Daoming Si in their memory.

Even Dylan himself has acknowledge the harsh criticisms from the audience, with the mention of him being called "the poorest Daoming Si in history" in a Weibo post. But in all fairness, Dylan's acting would not be considered bad compare other actors with no experience. This version of Daoming Si is not the same version compare to previous versions, mainly because the time has changed and so will the character to fit in with the new generation. If you watch this drama as a new drama not as the old version, Dylan's portrayal of Daoming Si is quite vibrant.

Still is a Tall "Little Boy"
In the drama, Daoming Si is an arrogant and extravagant person. In real life, Dylan Wang is a kind and loving person. One time, Dylan was at the airport with his mom and was surrounded by fans, he still signed autographs and even converse with them. And all of a sudden he realized he lost his own mother at the airport and walked around to look for her with a bewildered look on his face. On another occasion, when he was at a fashion event, Dylan brought out candy from the show and hand it out to the fans even though securities were rushing him to get in the car. All his co-stars and producer Angie Chai disclose that Dylan has a great sense of humor and is always bubbly.

Especially, Dylan and Shen Yue are "north vs south" brother and sister in real life. The young brother always bully the older sister and the older sister always call him stupid. When Daoming Si has to act tough, both just starts laughing. They had to film underwater scenes in the cold weather, Dylan often give his hot packs to Shen Yue. Maybe that's just the kind and loving Dylan, careless about naysayers, knowing that the fans will still love Meteor Garden.
 lily: a number of the fans that lived through the 2001 version of MG (including myself), will always have a hard time adjusting to change. however, i agree with the article in the sense that it's a new generation and things have changed and will continue to change. i remember as a child (in like 2005) i was so excited to come home from school to watch a new rerun episode of meteor garden. man, those were the days.

i personally think dylan has lots of potential even though he's very young. even though, fame came quick for him after winning super idol and getting a lead role, i hope he stays humble and remember his mentors' words.
